Purpose: Osteoporosis or bone fragility is a serious chronic health disease in developed countries and it is more prevalent in the elderly [1]. The lifetime risk of an osteoporotic fracture is almost 40% similar to the lifetime risk for coronary heart disease [3], and it will increase as the population ages.[...]

Conclusion: The protocol with energy bins [30-45, 45-60, 60-78 and 78-118 keV] displayed linear response and the expected order of HU with energy bin and also showed anticipated mass attenuation curve vs energy. As a calibration phantom, solid CaHA resin rods behave more like bone mineral than aqueous solution [...]
