Aims and objectives: We aimed to determine the clinical applicability of 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/ computed tomography (CT) to patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM).

Conclusion: SUVmax measurement of FDG PET/CT imaging appears to differentiate MPM from benign pleural thickness.
