Methods and materials: Prior to the anatomy session the students received an anatomy video and a teaching package with cross sectional images, line diagrams and questions to answer about upper limb vascular anatomy. Results: The teaching session is the first of its kind at the University of Leeds and has been delivered to over 200 medical students. Both formal and informal evaluation from medical students and demonstrators has been overall positive. 32 students completed written feedback, in the form of a questionnaire.[...]

Conclusion: Ultrasound is an innovative method of demonstrating and teaching anatomy to medical students. Knowledge of upper limb vascular anatomy is vital for everyday work as a doctor, and will act as a platform for learning additional skills such as ultrasound guided arterial and venous cannulation.
