Abstract

There is a worldwide move from health care systems that are based on fee-for-service models towards systems that incorporate pay-for-performance or even national health coverage. The idea behind this change is based on proposals to increase the quality of care while at the same time trying to reduce cost by increased efficiency. During the Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen honorary lecture, you will get to know why the time for value-based radiology is now, appreciate the potential of value-based radiology in the clinical care process, and understand the challenges in implementing value-based radiology.
